First Music City Backgammon Open Held in Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee, joined the American backgammon calendar this fall. The first annual Music City Backgammon Open ran from September 23 to 27, 2026, as part of the American Backgammon Tour (ABT).
The Open division drew 51 players. Bill Calton of Michigan took first place, and Mike Horri of Georgia finished second.
Why new regional events matter
Regional tournaments are where most players get their first taste of over-the-board match play: clocks, a dice cup, a scoresheet and an opponent across the table. A new stop on the tour means more players within driving distance of a live event. If you are thinking about your first tournament, read our guide to backgammon tournaments and the Crawford rule before you go.
