Marty Storer Wins the 2026 Cherry Blossom Championships
The Cherry Blossom Backgammon Championships, held in Herndon, Virginia, from April 15 to 19, 2026, attracted a strong field: 92 players entered the main ABT Championship division.
Marty Storer of New Hampshire won the event, with Joe Russell of California finishing second.
A spring fixture of the American tour
The Cherry Blossom tournament is a regular spring stop on the American Backgammon Tour, which awards season points for results at its events. A 92-player championship bracket means many rounds of knockout match play — a test of consistency as much as of skill. Long matches reward the player who handles the doubling cube well and avoids big errors in the race.
